Parkcycle Swarm w/ N55

I learned of Ion Sorvin and N55 in 2012 when Soren and Louise, our Danish apprentices at Rebar shared with me the group's brilliant work.

One of N55’s recent projects, the XYZ cargo bike system is a collaboration between Ion and Till Wolfer. The XYZ bikes are based on the innovative Open Source system XYZ SPACEFRAMES VEHICLES.

In 2013, I was invited to be part of an exhibition in Baku, Azerbaijan for which I collaborated with Ion and Til to create Parkcycle Swarm, a mobile pedal powered distributed open space system. Together we produced 5 parkcycle subunits. Each unit operates independently but when needed they join together to create a larger open space. The open space assembles and reassembles where and when it’s needed, to all areas accessible by pedal power. Parkcycle swarm is an evolution of Park(ing) Day and the Parkcycle.

The piece was fabricated in Copenhagen and then shipped to Baku, where former ReBar apprentice Masha Slavnova and I released them into the city.

Collaborators: Ion Sorvin, Til Wolfer (N55)
