Bushwaffle

Bushaffle: personal space softening devices

On the occasion of the 2008 ExperimentaDesign Biennale in Amsterdam initiated by droog design and curated by Scott Burnham, Rebar created Bushwaffle: personal space softening devices. The original concept was that of a vending machine modular inflatable that could be purchased and deployed to soften the hard and inflexible urban landscape, and enable users to shape and modify their environment.  Bushwaffle was an early experiment in user-generated urbanism. We tested many iterations of the piece and landed on a five pointed star shape that could tessellate together (using straps connected to the points of the star) to form a variety of shapes and uses.
